CUPW Welcomes Maintair Workers from Thunder Bay

November 9, 2023

CUPW is pleased to welcome employees of Maintair Aviation Services Ltd. working at Thunder Bay International Airport in ground handling services, including baggage handling, ramp coordination, and the grooming and cleaning of planes to our Union!

These workers face numerous issues including stagnant pay, high staff turnover, old and poorly maintained equipment. They do not have health benefits, overtime pay, or premiums for night work. They want to find solutions and make gains through the collective bargaining process.

While Maintair is successful and recording profits, its workers are struggling to make ends meet. As we all know, the cost of living keeps rising and half of the workers in this new bargaining unit have told us that they work a second job to make ends meet.

We look forward to negotiating a good contract for these workers. We are proud to welcome them to the Union and want to let them know that they have the full support of all CUPW members across the country.

In Solidarity,

Jody Hutton
3rd National Vice-President
